Conference of Youth On Climate Change




Climate Change currently the biggest issue of the world, more than thirty thousand people die every year because of Climate Changing. Pakistan ranking number Eight in this year’s Global List of countries most affected by climate-related disasters. Pakistan needs all the help it can get in increase its resilience. Therefore Youth Parliament declared this year 2016 to focus on Theme ‘Climate Change’ and to create awareness of Climate Change issue in Pakistan, especially on Youth level where Youth can share their views & raise the voice to save the Pakistan & this beautiful planet.With this mission Youth Parliament organized Conference of Youth-COY Pakistan. This conference was in connection with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP21 & Conference of Youth COY11 held at Paris, France in Nov-Dec 2015.The opening ceremony was held on 25th January 2016 at Marriott Hotel, Karachi. The opening ceremony was graced by First Women Speaker of Balochistan Assembly Raheela Hameed Durrani. The guests of honor included experts on environment Afia Salam, Naeem Qureshi, Abdul Fawad.Mr. Abdul Fawad from K-Electric presented special presentation on Environment.

From 26th January 2016 to 27th January 2016 Side Events of COY Pakistan were arranged in different universities of Karachi which included PAF-KIET, University of Karachi, Askari College, Newports Institute of Communication & Economics & Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET). In these Side Events special Environment & Climate Change Experts were invited who created awareness among youngsters regarding Climate Change, its causes, effects and solutions.Closing Ceremony of COYPakistan was held on 28th January 2016 at Arts Council of Pakistan- Karachi.  The Guests of Honor included Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Ahmed Shah (President Arts Coucil of Pakistan), Ayaz Memon Motiwala (President All Pakistan Tajir Alliance), Fawad Khan (K-Electric) and people from different walks of life.
